Locked In

At some point during your life, you have probably been locked out of your home. You forget keys, the door shuts too quickly, etc. Well, this morning we are locked IN the apartment. It was 9:30am and I was heading out the door to go to work and the bottom lock would not unlock. (Yes, I go to work at 9:30 -- one thing to love about New York!) Elliott tried unjamming it with a knife, but no dice. Then he dismantled the door knob, but again it was stuck. We called the super and the landlord and no one is picking up the phone.

As Elliott continues to fiddle with the door, we are waiting for a locksmith to arrive.

I'm tempted to read something into the symbolism of getting locked into our New York apartment, but my morning coffee hasn't kicked in yet.
